A floral first

I’m on a journey to teach myself how to sew. Since starting the journey I’ve made some skirts and transformed some goodwill finds but up to this point I had never used a “pattern” for anything nor had I ever made a dress. I have to say, it almost got the best of me but I joined a sewing group on Facebook called Gertie’s B6453 Sew Along, had some wonderful guidance from a sewing instructor and some words of encouragement from the designer and Owner of Chic by She.

I pushed through my uncertainties and completed my goal. I made a dress just in time for  Mother’s Day!!! Yaaaaaay 🙂

Unfortunately the dress isn’t perfect and I didn’t follow the pattern directions exactly but all-in-all I don’t think it’s too bad considering it’s my first dress.  No worries, I have a variety of fabrics and I believe practice makes perfect. I’ll keep working at it until It’s perfect 😀

I have a zipper to MATCH but at the last minute I decided against that and went with a pop of PINK instead.

  • FEATHERS in the hair
  • CHECKERED handbag
  • POLKADOT shoes and head scarf
  • ZIGZAG earrings
  • RUFFLED Crinoline Petticoat Underskirt
  • BOLD floral print
  • BRAIDED black & gold chain rope belt

vpinI believe in mixing different patterns/textures for a more interesting overall look.

Thanks for stopping by!  May all the Mother’s have a safe and beautiful day. My Mother is no longer living but there isn’t a day that goes by I’m not thinking about her. I wouldn’t be the person I am if it had not been for her. I miss her EVERYDAY.
