BDU Skirt

It seems like forever since I posted anything 🙁  Sorry about that. Lately I’ve been so busy working that I hadn’t had the time. So let me tell you about my new venture! I’m going to try my hand at sewing! I’ve been wanting to try it..just never made the move. Recently I bought a beginner sewing machine and accessories and before I dove head first into the world of patterns and various fabrics I decided to keep it simple while I was getting use to handling and working on a sewing machine. My first PROJECT was to simply recycle and transform a pair of pants into a skirt.

I loooove long skirts so I took a pair of my husband’s old military BDU’s and turned it into a skirt. To you more seasoned sewers I know you’re yelling at me in regards to the raw edges and the drawstrings I left but I actually WANTED that look. I didn’t want it to look polished at this time b/c I’m RAW around the edges…get it? anywaaaay.. eventually I’ll go back and sew up those raw edges I promise! 🙂

I predict I’m going to love my new hobby!! I have to shuckle a little because I’m pretty sure my husband is saying, “I’ll give you a month before that sewing machine starts to collect” and my response to that will be, “we’ll just have to wait and see :)” I’m thankful I have a supportive hubby and on a different note…I love and appreciate him and all those serving or who has served in our United States Military!

Freedom is NOT FREE and Fashion is NOT a Luxury 🙂

So there you have first sewing project y’aaaaaall! 🙂 I’m aware it’ll be a minute before I’m “project runway” ready ..LOL.. but as long as I can whip up a few pieces for myself I’ll be one happy camper.

Y’all take care!!
