His and Hers

I’ve been M.I.A for awhile but I plan on posting more in the future.

Today’s post shows a simple DIY transformation. My husband gave me a pile of his shirts to drop off to Goodwill but instead of taking them to Goodwill I decided to keep them for future projects.

Started with the brown plaid shirt. Here’s a before & after.

There are many reasons one may refashion, reuse and recycle clothing but for me there’s only one reason and it has nothing to do with $$.  For me, I like being the only one wearing what I’m wearing when I walk into a room.

I try to avoid buying clothing from “big box fashion retailers” like Wally World (aka Walmart) and “fast fashions” such as  Forever 21.  Don’t get me wrong, those places have cute trendy clothes BUT when you pick an item from the rack there will be 20+ more just like it left on the rack for someone else to purchase.  Therefore I find myself scouting thrift stores & vintage boutiques. Most times it doesn’t take long before I find a diamond in the rough.

Below is a sample of what I’m doing with some of the other shirts that belonged to my husband:

Below are the remaining photos I shot wearing the brown plaid mens shirt which I refashioned into a off-the-shoulder top:
